2 Ways to Improve Your Skin

Skin is such a huge topic. There are so many factors that affect our skin including hormones, the environment, and coming in contact with allergens or chemicals. Of course there are other conditions as well, however there are a few foundational issues often overlooked.

We are bombarded with products or prescriptions to "fix" our skin for acne, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, dryness, flakey skin, etc. Do they work? Maybe, but only if you keep using them, because they aren't addressing the root cause.

Aside from removing an environmental irritant, there are a couple of areas you can support to improve your skin.

1. HYDRATION
2. DIGESTION

HYDRATION
Your skin is the largest organ in your body and consists of cells that need water. If you want supple skin, you must hydrate. Add in some quality electrolytes or a pinch of sea salt so your body will utilize the water. Dehydrated skin will be dry, flakey, scaley, and prone to wrinkles.

DIGESTION
Often the most overlooked cause of skins issues is digestion. Food intolerances and poor digestion create leaky gut. Also, you're not able to process and absorb vitamins, minerals, amino acids (protein), and fatty acids needed for healthy vibrant skin. If your gut is not healthy, food particles and irritants enter the body causing inflammation. This inflammation often looks like eczema, rashes, hives, acne, etc.

Is skin an area of concern for you? I used to deal with eczema, especially in the dryer months, and also acne. It wasn't until I improved my digestion, removed food intolerances, and increased my fats and water before I saw results.
