6 Ways to Reduce Stress
I don't think people really realize the amount of dysfunction in the body is due to stress. Can't sleep? Stress. Digestive issues? Stress. Skin issues? Stress. Can't focus? Stress. Brain fog? Stress. The list goes on and on. We are in an epidemic of chronic stress. Determining the root cause of your stress is imperative, and it very well may have to do with one of the points below. Try them out and see what helps you most!
Ways to reduce acute and chronic stress in the body:
- Nutrient-dense foods. Cut out the crap. Reach for fats or protein instead of sugar.
- Sleep - make it a priority. Your new job = get more sleep.
- Adrenal Support Oils. Balance your circadian rhythm. Wake-up in the mornings without feeling groggy, sleep better at night!
- Breathe & move. Walking or stretching is enough movements when stressed. My favorite breathing exercise is 4x4 Breathing:
- Breathe in for 4 seconds
- Hold for 4 seconds
- Breathe out for 4 seconds
- Hold for 4 seconds
- Repeat 4 times
- Reduce screens. Blue light sucks, and so does social media most of the time. Take a break.
- Stimulate your vagus nerve. Try this exercise when you need to calm down:
- Take 2 fingers to each side of your head
- Place them behind the ears
- Massage/stroke downward to mid-neck multiple times until calm.
- Try it with the 4x4 breathing.
